“There cannot be any compromise on the safety of schoolchildren and the Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) had taken suo motu cognisance of seven such cases which appeared in the press recently.”

This was stated by Justice SK Mittal, chairman of the HHRC, while addressing a press conference here on Friday.

The Commission had sought explanation from the authorities concerned of the schools, including the directors of different departments of school education about these incidents, he said. He advocated the checking of school buses every six months.

To a question, Justice Mittal pointed out the majority of cases reaching the HHRCare related to the police, matrimonial disputes and about sanctioning of the benefits of social welfare schemes. — OC
