Mahendragarh: Himanshi, a research scholar with the Department of Microbiology in Central University of Haryana (CUH), has been selected for the prestigious Bioenergy-Award for Cutting Edge Research (B-ACER) internship programme at University of Georgia in Athens. “It’s a big achievement not only for Himanshi but also for the CUH as just seven research scholars across India are selected for the award every year. She will work on metabolic engineering of Escherichia coli for biofuel production,” said Prof RC Kuhad, Vice-Chancellor.

NCC starts process to select cadets 

Hisar: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has started the process to select girls of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST) for the NCC course in Hisar. The 3, HAR Girls Battalion of the NCC conducted the physical test of the girls who want to enrol in the NCC course in the university. Commanding Officer Colonel Suresh Kumar Yadav informed that they told the girls about the scope of employment in the Indian defence forces. The NCC wing will hold a written test on August 19. 

Students plant 100 saplings

Panipat: As many as 400 students of The Millennium School at Ansal organised ‘Paudhgiri’ programme and planted 100 saplings along the sector 13/17 main road, said Amita Kochar, Principal. DC Sumedha Kataria was the chief guest of the programme. The students gathered at the helipad and took an oath to save water and trees. The students presented a skit titled ‘Hum millennium ke bachhe, paudhagiri lekar aaye hain’. The students appealed to city residents to participate in the fourth battle of Panipat for trees, water and sanitation. DC Kataria applauded the students’ presentation and appealed to the people to plant more trees.

Students celebrate Teej at PIMS 

Panipat: Students of nursing and physiotherapy at Prem Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) celebrated Teej. Dr Pankaj Mutneja, president, PIMS, congratulated the students on the festival and said that it was great to see youths participating in Indian festivals. The students participated in various competitions — hair style, bangles decoration, kite-flying, Teej princess contest and mehndi design and open dance. Brigadier JR Sethi (retd), Director and CEO, PIMS; Professor Inderpreet Kaur, Principal, Ved Nursing College; Dr Vinay Jagga, Principal, Physiotherapy; were present during the programme.
