Sonepat, February 3

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Nishant Sharma has sentenced a Delhi girl to three years’ imprisonment for changing her statement in a higher court in a case relating to her gangrape by four youths. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs5,000 on her.

On May 18, 2012, she had lodged a police complaint that three youths had abducted her from outside a university in the district, where she was a student of BA LLB, and took her to the fields, where another youth was waiting. All four allegedly raped her.

The alleged incident had taken place on May 16, 2012.

However during the hearing of the case in the court of Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) here, the girl had changed her statement recorded under Section 164 of the IPC, claiming she did not recognise the accused. The ASJ ordered registration of a case against her. — OC
