Ambala, October 21

Health Minister Anil Vij said today that no private practitioner could declare that a patient has dengue till a government  hospital confirmed the same after conducting diagnostic tests. He held private practitioners responsible for spreading dengue scare.

Vij inspected the arrangements made at a medical camp organised at Babyal village in Ambala Cantonment. A large number of suspected viral cases were reported from the village recently.

In a survey conducted in Babyal village by the department, nearly 2,300 houses were inspected and dengue larva was found in 163 houses. Notices were issued to nearly 100 houses.

During the camp, 482 persons were examined, of which 314 were found to be suffering from viral fever and only four cases of dengue were confirmed.

Vij said, “Private hospitals are not authorised to confirm dengue, but some doctors in private hospitals are misleading patients suffering from viral fever. A decrease in dengue cases has been registered this year.”
