Kurukshetra, December 13

Acting President of Mauritius Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory participated in religious rituals during the ongoing International Gita Mahotsav here on Thursday. He was accompanied by Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at the Brahma Sarovar, the landmark of the holy city.

Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and Ram Bilas Sharma, the Education Ministers of Gujarat and Haryana, respectively, were also present on the occasion.

The dignitaries also participated in the ‘yajna’ performed by young priests and religious leader Swami Gyananand on the banks of the sarovar.

BJP president Amit Shah was scheduled to preside over the main phase of the Gita Mahotsav on Thursday but he could not come due to health issues, Khattar said.

The Mauritian president inaugurated the Gujrat pavilion at the fair and also relished delicacies at Haryanvi food court. Later, Khattar inaugurated an exhibition at Gita Gyan Sansthanam. The International Gita Mahotsav began on December 7 and would culminate on December 23. — TNS
