Players shine in Kho kho meet

Kaithal: Indira Gandhi Senior Secondary Public School, Kaithal, lifted the trophy of the CBSE Under-19 Kho-Kho Tournament-Cluster XVI at Tohana. The boys’ kho-kho team of the school under the captaincy of Ankit Raj Rana of Class XII defeated the team of Shimla. According to principal, the U-19 boys’ basketball team under captain Sachin finished as the second runners-up, fighting 13 teams from Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Lakshay of Class IX represented the school in the Handball Haryana State Tournament and finished at the first runner-up position at Sirsa.

Meritorious achievers felicitated

Karnal: A felicitation ceremony was organised for meritorious achievers in academics for the session 2018-19 at KVA DAV College for Women, Karnal. Principal Sujata Gupta declared the results and congratulated the meritorious students. Six students of MSc (Biotechnology, Semester-1), one of MSc (Biotechnology, Semester IV), seven of MSc (CS, Semester I), three of MSc (CS, Semester II), two of MSc (CS, Semester IV), two of MSc (Maths, Semester I), two of MSc (Maths, Semester II), one of BSc, (Semester VI), four of MA in English, three of BSc (Fashion Designing, Semester I), one of BSc (Fashion Designing, Semester VI), 11 of BVoc (Fashion Technology, Semester I), 11 of B Voc (Fashion Technology, Semester II), 12 BVoc (Fashion Technology, Semester VI), three of BVoc (Food Science and Quality Control, Semester II) and one of BVoc (Food Science and Quality Control, Semester VI), who have secured merits in the Kurukshetra University during 2018-19.  

Rally on voting awareness

Sonepat: The NSS volunteers of local Hindu Girls College took out a voter awareness rally in the town to motivate the people towards polling. Carrying placards, they raised the slogans like 'Matdaan Hamara Adhikar Hai-Jisse Chalti Sarkaar Hai, Pehle Matdaan-Phir Jalpaan'. Flagging of the rally from the college, principal RK Gupta said a vigilant voter was the foundation of a strong democracy and he could change the direction and circumstances of the society. "In the present circumstances, voters should take decision with their self-discretion and rise above the narrow sentiments of religion, caste and region, etc while exercising their right to franchise," he added.

English grammar lessons

Kaithal: An activity of learning grammar-beyond the lecture method was organised by the Department of English, RKSD College, under the coordination of Jaibir Dhariwal. In all, 120 students participated in the event by exhibiting their posters on the various aspects of grammar. Principal Sanjay Goyal advised the students and stressed on the need of adapting and inculcating English language skills in the day-to-day activities of their lives by reading newspaper, books and watching movies with subtitles, etc. Head of English department Rajbir Parashar advised the students to have a good hand in grammar.
