Gurugram, August 14

Manesar town was left shocked on Tuesday when a patwari was shot dead and an HSIIDC driver critically injured while they were surveying a piece of land in area. Patwari Ishwar Singh (55) and his driver Birender were attacked by unidentified assailants while they were having an argument with villagers at the survey site.

The duo had gone to survey nearly 900 acre of land in Manesar village, which was allotted recently to HSIIDC by court. The land in question was bought by builders and then local villagers went to court.

The court had ruled in favour of the government and the land was allotted to HSIIDC. Some villagers had illegally cultivated land in this area and Ishwar had gone to survey the same. When he reached the spot, villagers started arguing with him. During the argument, shots were fired with one hitting the driver’s hand and another piercing through the chest of Ishwar.

Sources claim there were some other HSIIDC employees on the spot who rushed for cover. The duo was taken to Rockland hospital where Ishwar was declared brought dead.

The police were silent on the issue behind the murderous attack on the patwari and were yet to register an FIR till the filing of this report.
