Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal said the state was a leading example of women empowerment in the country.

At a community felicitation function organised in Jind on Sunday, Lal said saree weaving was a cottage industry in Odisha and several highly trained womenfolk were engaged in it. He said PM Narendra Modi had undertaken several innovative socio-economic schemes and the Centre had successfully adopted an inclusive development model. He also emphasised inculcating moral values among the younger generation and mentoring them to be responsible citizens.

Lal lauded the role of Rajkumar Goyal, chairperson of All India Aggarwal Samaj, for coordinating various social activities. Representatives of various khap panchayats and social and trader organisations honoured Lal. — TNS
