An MCI team had visited the premises twice in December 2016 and March 2017 to check the preparedness of the college to start classes.

Permission has been given initially for a period of one year and will be renewed on a yearly basis till the first batch of students passes out.

As many as 15 per cent seats of MBBS would be reserved for the Union government.

“It is a proud and historical moment for the residents of Karnal as well as of Haryana as the ambitious project of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Health Minister Anil Vij has been approved,” said Dr Surinder Kashyap, Director, KCGMCH.

The college is dedicated to the late astronaut Kalpana Chawla, who hailed from Karnal. KCMCH is presently discharging only hospital services.
