Faridabad, November 15

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Atul Kumar assured residents of Omaxe Heights in Sector 86 today that power supply to the colony would not be disconnected over alleged sewage disposal violations.

The DC pulled up officials of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and the Haryana State Pollution Control Board for announcing the disconnection.

Hundreds of residents of the colony staged a demonstration at the mini-secretariat and submitted a memorandum to the DC, seeking his intervention on the issue.

A spokesperson of the Residents Welfare Association of the housing society said the notice issued by the Executive Engineer of the DHBVN had resulted in panic among them.

He said the response of the district authorities was positive as the DC assured them that there would not be any disconnection of electricity.

"I assured the delegation that no move will result in inconvenience to them," said the DC. He said residents could not be harassed or victimised for no fault of theirs. He denied ordering disconnection.
