Hisar, October 31

The air shuttle service between Hisar and Chandigarh has come to a halt. Flights are not operating for around two weeks and there is no message about resumption of service.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated the air shuttle service on September 3. Two flights a day were planned initially, which got restricted to one daily flight five days a week. There was no flight on Saturdays and Sundays. The fare was Rs 1,674 for a one-way trip.

A travel agent confirmed that flights were not operating for about two weeks. The agent said the airline cited technical reasons for grounding the service and there was no word on resuming the flight.

Hisar MLA Kamal Gupta said flights were disrupted for some days due to low visibility on account of smog and weather.

He said the airport did not have night vision facility for continuing flights during low visibility. A revised schedule was likely soon and the shuttle service would be resumed, he added.

Airport Director SS Badhwar said flights got affected in poor visibility. “Some flights have been cancelled. SpiceJet officials will be in a better position to say anything. Morning flight will be two hours late in winter.”

Deputy Commissioner Ashok Meena said he was not aware of the schedule. No SpiceJet official was available for comment.
