Hisar, August 25

Supporters of self-styled godman Rampal have taken to Twitter to level allegations of corruption against the Hisar Jail Superintendent. The Twitter trend was at number four for some time on Twitter India with the tagline #JulmiJailor_InHaryana.

Awarded life term till natural death in two separate cases of murder, Rampal wasy lodged in Central Jail 2 in Hisar. His supporters had been levelling allegations for the past four years. He was arrested following a clash between the police and his supporters at Satlok Ashram in Barwala in November 2014.

Rampal’s follower Sukhdev Vishwakarma shared a video levelling serious allegations of corruption against Jail Superintendent Shamsher Singh Dahiya, at present posted in Central Jail 1. A number of supporters had uploaded news clips, videos and content on Twitter.

These trended on number four under the tagline #JulmiJailor_InHaryana before sliding to fifth position. Most of the videos had been filmed for a YouTube channel SA News, owned and operated by Satlok Ashram of Rampal.

When contacted, Dahiya said Rampal was not lodged in his jail. “I am posted in jail 1 while Rampal is lodged in jail 2, located 4 or 5 km away. They have been trying to create drama on social media. I have been doing my duty and am not disturbed by such false and baseless allegations,” he said.

Judges and judicial officials visited jail as per norms and there were other inmates as well, he pointed out. “They have approached the higher authorities and courts, but none of their allegations has any substance or truth,” he stated.

Rampal was arrested on November 19, 2014, after the police stormed Satlok Ashram at Barwala.
