Mahendragarh: Central University of Haryana (CUH) organised a two-day programme to provide its departments opportunity to display their performance. During the programme, various departments not only presented a detailed description of their publications, research projects, patents, fellowship, workshops and seminars, but also highlighted the significance of mutually sharing unique researches and pedagogical skills. “The event aimed at sharing activities of teaching departments and finding a chance for self-analysis and collaborative learning. Teachers get to learn from such events,” said Prof RC Kuhad, Vice-Chancellor.

Students campaign against polythene

Kurukshetra: Students of Divine Public School, Shahabad (Markanda), have launched a massive campaign against the use of polythene bags. In this drive, they are visiting public places and government offices to create awareness in this regard. The students, under the guidance of chief coordinator Ravi Bhushan, are educating the public on the harmful effects of polythene bags. The use of cloth carry bags is being promoted. Students also distributed carry bags made of cloth with the slogan “apne shehar/gaon ko na kare maila, bazaar jaayen hamesha leker thaila” (We should not pollute our city/village, we must always carry cloth-made bags while going for shopping). The students visited the sub-division office and distributed carry bags made of cloth to all officials, lawyers and the public. The officials and lawyers present there appreciated the efforts of the students.

Shivansh wins inter-school debate

Ambala: DAV Public School, Ambala Cantonment, hosted an inter-school debate on Wednesday in the school auditorium. As many as 50 participants from 25 schools in and around Ambala took part. The topic of the debate was ‘Bubble of e-commerce is about to burst.’ Orators of Classes XI and XII spoke in favour and against the motion. Shivansh Madaan of SD Vidya School clinched the first position and Tuhina Bagga of DAV Public School emerged first runner up followed by Ashish Gupta of SD Vidya School. The consolation prize was bagged by Manasvi of Geeta Niketan Awasiya Vidyalaya, Kurukshetra. 

‘Birds of Haryana’ released

Yamunanagar: A seminar on the ‘Birds of Haryana’ was organised in Mukand Lal National College, Yamunanagar. On this occasion, a book entitled ‘Birds of Haryana – A Field Guide’ authored by Dr Rajiv Kalsi, associate professor of zoology in the college, Suresh Chand Sharma, a birder of the region and Dr Janak Raj Choudhary, an ENT surgeon, was released by the dignitaries. Bikram Grewal, an author and an authority on birds of the Indian subcontinent, was the chief guest. Three renowned birders — Brigadier Arvind Yadav, Amit Sharma and Dr Gurpratap Singh — and Jagdish Chander, Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Haryana, were present on the occasion. Dr Ramesh Kumar, author and educationist, presided over the function.
