Gurugram, August 21

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr JS Punia on Wednesday marked an inquiry into a faulty blood test report that mentioned a sharp drop in platelet count of a six-month-old girl, leading to dengue scare.

Manoj Jindal, a resident of Sector 45 here, has complained against a diagnostic centre for allegedly fudging the platelet count of his six-month-old child. “I want action against medical shops being run in the name of diagnostic centres,” he said.

“My girl was suffering from fever for the past few days. On August 15, we went to a laboratory in Sector 44 here for a blood test. In the blood report, the platelet count was only 25,000. We panicked and immediately went to a private hospital, where blood test was conducted again. In the re-test, the platelet count was 2.31 lakh. We were relieved and shocked at the same time,” he said.

A doctor in the diagnostic centre stuck to his report. “As per our the blood report, the platelet count is 25,000,” he said.

Dr Punia said, “The matter is being investigated by a committee led by nodal officer Dr Anuj Garg.” –— OC
