Wife of a Haryana Police head constable and her two minor children drowned in the Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) canal passing through the Delhi road under mysterious circumstances here on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Mamta (28), her daughter Majita (6) and son Rajat (3).

Mamta’s husband Sandeep of Mahendragarh district is posted at Sadar police station here and resides in the official house at Police Lines here.

As per the police report, Mamta went to the canal to immerse flowers in the morning with her children. The police on getting information about the incident rushed to the spot. Swimmers were called, who later recovered the bodies from the canal.

Rewari SP Nazneen Bhasin said investigation was under way to ascertain whether it was an accident or suicide. It had been learnt that there was some dispute between the husband and wife, she said. — TNS
