Rewari, August 11

Dental surgeons across the state will bear black badges from August 13 to 17 in protest against the Finance Department not approving their long-pending demands.

The decision was taken by the state executive committee of the Haryana Civil Dental Surgeons Association (HCDSA) at its meeting held here on Sunday.

The dental surgeons are demanding change in nomenclature of their post to Medical Officer (Dental), creation of a new promotional post of Deputy Civil Surgeon (Dental) at the district level and Deputy Director Dental at the state level, payment of six increments on entry of dental specialist in service on a par with medical officers and payment of special allowance to dental surgeons posted in Mewat.

“In 2014, then Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had accepted our demands and sent the case to the Finance Department for final approval. But the department has not approved the demands even after five years,” said Dr Inderjeet Yadav, chief, HCDSA.

He further said, “Dental surgeons in neighboring states and at the Centre are getting regular promotions and four ACPs (Assured Career Progression). But in Haryana, dental surgeons were getting 3 ACPs.

“Dental surgeons in Haryana have only one promotional avenue. They are promoted to Senior Dental Surgeon after 18 years of service. Hence, most of the dental surgeons retire on the same post as only 22 posts of Senior Dental Surgeon are available in the state,” he said.

Demands

  • Change in nomenclature of the post to Medical Officer (Dental)
  • Creation of a new promotional post of Deputy Civil Surgeon (Dental) at the district level and Deputy Director Dental at the state level
  • Payment of six increments on the entry of dental specialist in service on a par with medical officers
  • Payment of special allowance to dental surgeons posted in Mewat
