Faridabad student stabbed to death

A 17-year-old student was stabbed to death in broad daylight here this noon. The miscreants managed to flee before the police reached the spot. A case has been registered.

The incident took place around 3.15 pm when the victim, identified as Vinay Kumar, a student of plus one from Open school, was standing outside a private school.

The teenager was assaulted with knives by three motorcycle-borne youths. As he fell down, the unidentified assailants stabbed him a dozen times, killing him on the spot.

The police, which was informed by local residents, reached the spot and shifted the victim to the civil hospital. There, he was declared brought dead. The body was sent for the post-mortem examination.

Vinay was son of Sanjay Sharma, a senior photojournalist with a leading Hindi daily here. It is reported that some old rivalry or quarrel between Vinay and some youths may have been the reason behind the murder.

The police have registered a case against the accused who are likely to be arrested soon, said a spokesperson of the Police Department. He did not rule out the enmity angle in the incident.

This is 42nd murder in the district this year. Earlier, armed assailants had gunned down Congress leader Vikas Chaudhary here outside a gym on June 27 in broad daylight. Though the police have arrested 11 suspects, it is yet to nab the main shooters.
