Four wanted criminals held post encounter in G’gram

GURUGRAM: The police on Wednesday nabbed four wanted criminals, including a Manjit Mahaal gang member, after an encounter near the Dwarka expressway.

The police on Wednesday nabbed four wanted criminals, including a Manjit Mahaal gang member, after an encounter near the Dwarka expressway.

The encounter, in which three criminals were injured, took place in the wee hours when they were travelling in an XUV.

The XUV, four illegal pistols and 25 cartridges were recovered from them. The vehicle had reportedly been robbed from Bhiwadi.

The Palam Vihar crime unit got a tip-off about their movement and laid a trap. They trailed and chased the car, but when they tried to intercept them, the criminals fired at the police. The police claimed the criminals fired over a dozen bullets at the police party and they retaliated. Three criminals were shot in the legs in the retaliatory firing and all four were nabbed.

The injured were admitted to the Safdarjung Hospital. The fourth criminal was produced in court, which sent him in judicial custody.

The criminals were identified as Lokesh alias Surya of Najafgarh, Pradeep alias Sonu and Jagbir, both of Jasore Kheri village in Jhajjar, and Neeraj alias Sanju of Kheri Dhamkan village in Sonepat.

The accused, during preliminary interrogation, reportedly confessed to three murders and robbery of Rs23 lakh in Delhi.

The police claimed they had committed over two dozen crimes, including murder, attempt to murder, dacoity and kidnapping, mostly in Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan. The Delhi Police had announced a reward of Rs1 lakh on Lokesh while Pradeep and Neeraj carried a reward of Rs50,000 each.
