Five killed, 3 hurt in road accident

HISAR: Four members of a family were among five persons killed when the car in which they were travelling hit a stationary truck near Fatehabad’s Karnauli village in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Four members of a family were among five persons killed when the car in which they were travelling hit a stationary truck near Fatehabad’s Karnauli village in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The car driver lost balance of the vehicle as he dozed off, the police said.

Three persons received injuries in the accident. They have been referred to a hospital in Agroha.

All victims are residents of Jodhkan village in Sirsa district. They were returning to their home after attending a wedding in Rajasthan. The deceased have been identified as Deepak Kumar (38), his wife Mamta (33), son Nikhil (10), niece Riya (12) and car driver Ved Goyal.

The police said a case had been registered. — TNS


Woman dies in mishap 

Jhajjar: A woman was killed and 10 others injured when an autorickshaw rammed into a roadways bus after a truck hit it from the rear on Jhajjar-Sonepat road near Girawar village on Wednesday. The injured were discharged from the Civil Hospital after the first-aid. The incident took place when passengers were disembarking from the autorickshaw. The police have booked a case of rash driving against the truck driver. TNS
