Two youths allegedly kidnapped Balesh, a resident of Chhajpur in the district, at gunpoint and released him after taking a ransom of Rs one lakh on Thursday. The police registered a case against unknown persons on Saturday evening.

Balesh in his complaint to the city police said that he was at the district courts when he received a phone call at 1.45 pm on Thursday. The caller told him that he was talking from Rewari and his relative had gone to the Samalkha court in an accident case, he added. The caller request him to come to the Samalkha court in a car parked outside the judicial complex, he added. “On their request I sat in the car in which two youths were already sitting. As we reached near Sewah village the driver turned the car towards Rohtak,” he said.

“The youths told me that someone had hired them to kill me and my cousin Ramratan and demanded Rs 10 lakh as ransom. Finally, the deal was settled for Rs one lakh. My brother-in-law Sachin reached Samalkha and gave the money to them,” he said.

Inspector Vikrant, SHO, City said the incident occurred on Thursday but the complainant approached the police on Saturday.
