NDRI’s referral centre accredited

KARNAL: The National Referral Centre for Milk Quality and Safety (NRCMQS) has been granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) in the discipline of chemical testing.

The National Referral Centre for Milk Quality and Safety (NRCMQS) has been granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) in the discipline of chemical testing. The NABL has evaluated the NRCMQS in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025-2005.

Congratulating the scientists, Dr RRB Singh, Director, NDRI, said NRCMQS had demonstrated its competence in testing of liquid milk and milk products such as ghee, whole milk powder, skim milk powder, dairy whitener, cheese and other milk products. The lab has been accredited for two years and accreditation would be valid till March 21, 2020, he said.

He informed that this was a long pending demand from dairy industry as well as regulatory agencies that a testing house be established at the NDRI. He said the laboratory was equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment for testing of dairy products, including high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography mass spectrometry, atomic absorption spectrophotometer, particle size analyser, protein analyser, electrochemical station and others. He asked the dairy industry to benefit from testing facilities at the NDRI.
