Ambala, February 3

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ambala, on Friday awarded Rs 2 lakh each as compensation under the Haryana Victim Compensation Scheme to the parents of a murder victim.

A case was registered against three persons on May 31, 2016 in connection with the death of Nitin. After trial, the accused were acquitted on December 19, 2018. Nitin’s parents Anju and Raj Kumar had moved an application under Section 357-A of the CrPC.

CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Danish Gupta, said, “It is axiomatic on the perusal of the judgment that Nitin had expired. The family income from all sources comes out to be Rs 84,000 per annum, not exceeding Rs 4.5 lakh, which is one of the conditions precedent for payment of compensation. An amount of Rs 2 lakh each is awarded as compensation for rehabilitation of the victims.” — TNS
