Modi to open Ballabgarh Metro on Nov 19

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 3.2-km section of the Ballabgarh Metro, a part of the Delhi Metro’s Violet Line, through video-conferencing on November 19. Simultaneously, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Kundli-Manesar–Palwal (KMP) Expressway.

Ballabhgarh will become the fourth city in the state to get the Metro connectivity after Gurugram, Faridabad and Bahadurgarh.

DC Atul Kumar said senior government officials would meet on Monday to review preparations for the inauguration. The Chief Administrator, Haryana Sahri Vikas Pradikaran (HSVP), is likely to chair the Monday meeting.

The construction of the Escorts Mujesar-Ballabhgarh corridor, a Rs568-crore project, had started in 2015. The trial run on the section had begun on August 24 this year. After the opening of this extension line having two stations—- NCB Colony and Ballabgarh, the entire Kashmere Gate-Ballabhgarh Metro corridor will become 46.6 km long. It is likely to benefit over 40,000 commuters daily.

Not on time 

The project, expected to be over in March 2017, got delayed by 20 months due to land acquisition (for pillars) disputes.

  • Initial deadline: March 2017
  • First Extension: December 2017                                                                                           
  • Second Extension: March 2018         
  • Third Extension: June 2018
