BJP MP from Kurukshetra Raj Kumar Saini, who has earned the wrath of the Jats for his tough stance against the community, has stated that he was not a “slave” of the BJP and would form a new party if the people of the state wanted him to.

“An announcement regarding this can be made at a state-level rally to be organized in Jind on November 26,” he said while addressing a public gathering organised to commemorate Parshuram Jayanti here today.

Saini lambasted former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for “sowing the seed of reservation during his tenure”. He remarked that if quota can be wrested by blocking roads or using force what role would the courts have?

The BJP MP advocated the provision of caste-based reservation as per the proportion of population represented by the respective caste(s). He maintained that the Rajya Sabha should be abolished in the larger interest of the country’s democratic set-up.

“A number of Bills passed by the Lok Sabha get stuck in the Rajya Sabha, which is detrimental to the spirit of democracy,” Saini said, adding that the leaders who lose elections or those who can spend hefty amounts make it to the Rajya Sabha.

Saini’s supporters projected him as the next CM of the state. They raised slogans declaring him as the Haryana chief minister in 2019.

Meanwhile, a youth carrying a pistol was nabbed by the police personnel deployed at the event venue. He has been rounded up for questioning.
