Madina (Rohtak), April 17

Wheat has been dumped on the Delhi-Fazilka National Highway-10 owing to shortage of space at the grain market in Madina village of the district.

The Tribune team that visited the village on Tuesday found that one side of the highway had been completely blocked by heaps of grain and the traffic diverted to the other side of the road.

Commissioner agents Parveen Dangi and Rajesh said they had to unload wheat on the road due to shortage of space in the grain market.

Farmers lamented their produce had been dumped on soil. They complained about tardy lifting of wheat and lack of basic amenities, including erratic power supply and absence of drinking water, at the grain market.

Rohtak Additional Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar said he would look into the matter. “Immediate steps will be taken to ensure that lifting process is expedited and the highway is not blocked,” he maintained.
