NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 19

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and apprised him of the measures taken by his government to make the administration corruption-free. Khattar informed the Prime Minister that corruption would not be tolerated at any cost.

The CM said the Haryana State Vigilance Bureau had been activated to root out “notorious and corrupt elements from the system.”

Khattar also informed Modi that the state government had decided to observe the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on December 25 as a “good governance day”. It would launch several projects and schemes on the occasion, the CM added.

A push for e-governance in a big way, especially with regard filing of returns by assesses for tax assessments and cataloging of properties, would be made.

Khattar listed completion of the SYL canal project ( a contentious issue between Haryana and Punjab) and commissioning of the Hansi-Butana-Link Canal as some of the major challenges facing the state government.

The Chief Minister urged Modi to augment the supply of fertilisers to the state from the Central pool to meet the sudden increase in demand.
