Karnal, December 8

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Kattar on Sunday inaugurated the newly constructed Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Dwar, built at a cost of Rs 98 lakh near the Baldi bypass, and Shri Krishna-Arjuna Pratima Gita Chowk near Atal Park in Karnal.

Addressing a gathering after the inauguration, the Chief Minister said: “Following the efforts being made by the government, over the last four years, Gita Jayanti had become an international-level mahotsav, which is being celebrated not only in Haryana but in several other countries too. With the support of saints, we are planning to have a three-day mahotsav in all states and UTs across the country.”

The Gita dwar is one of the four gates being constructed in Karnal to beautify the entrance to the city by the municipal corporation. Two other gates are under construction.

Khattar said: “The gate, which will be illuminated at night, will add to the beauty and grandeur of the city. The beauty of Geeta Chowk and the statues of Lord Krishna and Veer Arjuna will also be an attraction for visitors to Karnal.” The Chief Minister also flagged off a shobha yatra to mark the Gita Jayanti festival.

Karnal Mayor Renu Bala Gupta and Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap were among those present on the occasion.
