Guest teachers who had blocked a road near the mini-secretariat on Thursday lifted the blockade on Friday and went back to their dharna site in the Sector 12 Sunday market.

They lifted the blockade after a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh. They had a meeting with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at the PWD rest house on Thursday.

They demanded regularisation of their jobs, facilities on a par with regular staff members and the issuance of service rules for the newly formed Guest Teachers Act, 2019. The CM told them that the government had formed a policy to secure their job and said he would try his best to do whatever he could as per rules. Prior to a meeting with the CM, they were adamant on a meeting with the CM, but after the meeting, they continued their blockade, demanding release of a letter by the government on the issue of equal work, equal salary.

In the evening, a delegation of the guest teachers was called by the DC, after which they lifted the blockade. However, they went back to their dharna site, where they have been staging a fast since September 1.
