Karnal, June 2

Rajya Sabha MP Kumari Selja said on Saturday that the Karnal, Kurukshetra and Ambala Lok Sabha constituencies had always played a vital role in the politics of Haryana, but were ignored. Incumbent Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is also from north Haryana but no attention was being given to the region.

She was at the Assandh grain market to chair the Haryana Bachao Rally organised by Shamsher Singh Gogi, general secretary of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC).

She said that the Central and state governments were making false promises to people but failed to fulfil them.

The BJP had promised to implement the Swaminathan Commission report, but did nothing, she said. The BJP came to power promising to deposit Rs 15 lakh in the account of every citizen but it has failed to bring back black money.

Selja praised Gogi for the successful rally and said that if voted to power, the Congress would ensure North Haryana gets its due.

She criticised the Central government over the Fasal Bima Yojana and rising prices of petrol and diesel.

Gogi accused the BJP government of ignoring the Assandh constituency. He said that the government did not fulfil the long-pending demand of the district status to Assandh.

The Congress, if voted to power, would establish a sports college in Assandh, he added.
