Kaithal: The Guru Gobind Singh stadium, seven kms from here, is in a state of neglect. It lacks maintenance, while the ground is uneven and covered with grass. A few youths from nearby Sirta village who were preparing for the Army recruitment said the gymnasium hall was locked. A heap of volleyballs and other sports material were lying in a store with layers of dust over the stock. District Sports Officer Ganga Datt said sportspersons were not interested in coming to the stadium as it was far from the town. He said there were 18 coaches in the district and they were giving coaching at RKSD College stadium and other educational institutions. — Satish Seth
