Jind bypoll: Last day to withdraw tomorrow

CHANDIGARH: In the Jind bypoll, candidates can withdraw their nominations by January 14 up to 3 pm. After this, election symbols will be allotted to contesting candidates.

In the Jind bypoll, candidates can withdraw their nominations by January 14 up to 3 pm. After this, election symbols will be allotted to contesting candidates.

Giving details, Jind Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer Amit Khatri said polling would be held on January 28 from 10 am to 5 pm. The results would be declared after completing the counting of votes on January 31.

He said Chief Electoral Officer Rajeev Ranjan would give directions to the District Election Officers and Returning Officers on January 13 through video-conferencing. He would also review the preparations and other arrangements of Jind byelections.

He said five teams had been constituted to check and prevent illegal sale of liquor. These teams would keep a check on illegal movement or sale of liquor round the clock. To ensure proper checking, separate teams had been constituted for day and night.
