Several INLD workers on Tuesday resigned from the party in support of Ajay Chautala and his son Dushyant.

They included former district president Balwan Singh Suhag, urban unit president Rajesh Saini, Garhi Sampla-Kiloi head Sandeep Hooda and Meham head Sanjay Balhara.

As supporters of Ajay and Dushyant assembled at the party office, some of them removed the party flag and photograph of Leader of Opposition Abhay Chautala. The nameplate of the party’s district president was also removed.

State executive member and former zila parishad chairman Dharampal Makdauli, who was among those who tendered their resignations, said he reached the party office a little late.

“When I reached the office, I saw that Abhay’s photograph had been removed. I and other senior members got it reinstalled,” he said.

Join Cong: Bhukkal

Jhajjar: Former Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal invited supporters of Abhay and Dushyant to join the Congress. “We will not only welcome them but also give due respect to them in the party,” she told the media here on Tuesday. — TNS
