In the midst of feud in the first family of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), the immediate family of party patriarch Om Prakash Chautala has decided to go with Leader of Opposition Abhay Chautala.

Members of the family visited Abhay’s residence in Gurugram on Thursday night and expressed their solidarity with him in his political fight with his elder brother Ajay Chautala.

Chautala has five children – two sons Ajay and Abhay and three daughters Suchitra Singh, Sunita Singh and Anjali Singh. On Thursday, all three daughters along with their family members went to Abhay’s residence. Chautala’s wife Sneh Lata Chautala, Abhay’s wife Kanta Chautala and their sons Karan and Arjun were also there.

Sharing a picture of the family taken by Arjun on Thursday evening with The Tribune, Kunal Karan Singh, son of Chautala’s youngest daughter Anjali Singh said that the family stands united with Abhay in the ongoing family feud, because they find him right in the entire episode.

“The current feud is the most unfortunate thing to have happened particularly when the family elders (Chautala and his wife Sneh Lata) are still amongst us to shower their blessings. Our family was always known for strong family values. We had never imagined that politics will once take precedence over the family bonding,” he added.

Meanwhile, members of the Chautala family have not lost the hope of a rapprochement even at this stage and they are still making efforts in that direction.

“Backing Abhay does not mean that our family has severed connections with Ajay’s family. They, too, are very dear to us. Our social relations with them will continue as ever and we will keep trying that the family unites again. However, we will have no connection with Ajay politically. Hardly has ever state-level rally of the INLD passed without the presence of the family members. But no member of Chautala’s immediate family will go to Jind on Saturday,” said a family member.
