I-Day gift: Salary hike for guest teachers

Guest teachers in Haryana have been given a 25 per cent increase in salary on the eve of Independence Day. Besides, women guest teachers have been given five additional days of casual leave.

Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said here on Tuesday the Chief Minister had approved this proposal.

The monthly salary of PGT or lecturer (guest teachers) has been increased to Rs36,000 from Rs29,715, whereas the salary of TGT and C&V guest teachers has been increased to Rs30,000 from Rs24,001, and the salary of JBT and C&V guest teachers has been increased to Rs26,000 from Rs21,715, Sharma added.

Women guest teachers used to get 15 days’ casual leave in a year, which has been increased to 20 days. The increase in salary would put an additional burden of over Rs86.64 crore on the exchequer. — TNS
