Honeytrap: Woman among two arrested

The police have arrested two persons, including a woman, on the charge of extorting money from a businessman from Uttar Pradesh.

The accused have been identified as Saket, alias Johny, a resident of Jhajjar, and a 26-year-old woman. The kingpin of the gang, Sunil, a resident of Rohtak, is absconding, said Mohan Lal, SHO, Civil Lines.

An amount of Rs6 lakh, which was given as first instalment to meet their demand for Rs20 lakh, was recovered from them, he added.

The SHO said the businessman approached the police last evening, claiming he met the woman in Panipat around three months ago during a business tour.

He said they checked into a hotel and got intimate. He said she told the businessman she had a house in Karnal and thereafter, used to call him up to meet her in Karnal.

The SHO said the businessman came to Karnal on December 24 last and she took him to a house in Sector 13. He said she introduced him to a woman and left them in the room.

The SHO said the woman forced herself on the businessman with the incident being recorded in a camera.

He said after some time, the woman entered the room and told them to hide as ‘her husband’ had returned home.

The SHO said a man entered the room and started assaulting the businessman. He said the trio snatched his wallet, Rs80,000 and other belongings.

He said after a few days, the woman called up the businessman and demanded Rs20 lakh lest they informed his family.

He said when the businessman refused to pay up, the woman told him about the video of his intimate moments with ‘her friend’ and sent him some photographs of theirs. Subsequently, he contatced the police.
