The Haryana Police will soon initiate proceedings to declare Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s “adopted daughter” Honeypreet Insan and two other close associates Aditya Insan and Pawan Insan proclaimed offenders (POs).

A cash reward will be announced for anyone who assists in the arrest of the three close associates of Ram Rahim once the process of declaring them POs is completed. The police may also question Ram Rahim, who is at present lodged in the Sunaria jail at Rohtak, to inquire about Honeypreet’s possible hideouts.

DGP BS Sandhu today visited Sirsa and Fatehabad to review the progress of the investigation in the FIRs registered in the districts in connection with the violence after Ram Rahim’s conviction on August 25. He was accompanied by ADGP (Law and Order) Mohammad Akil. He chaired a meeting of DSPs and the Commandants of paramilitary forces deployed in Sirsa.

“I have held discussions with officers about measures being taken to ensure that the law and order situation remains under control in the coming days,” Sandhu said after the meeting.

He said the Haryana Police had issued an alert at the international level for Honeypreet’s arrest.

Asked about Honeypreet’s former husband Vishwas Gupta assertions, Sandhu said the Panchkula Commissioner of Police had called him to his office, however, he did not give any complaint. “The police have so far arrested 1,100 persons in the state in connection with the dera followers’ violence. In Sirsa, the police have arrested 44 persons,” added Sandhu.

Asked about questioning of Ram Rahim, the DGP said police investigation was moving in the right directions till now, but if need arises, they could quiz the dera head in the Sunaria jail.

When his attention was drawn towards the presence of some police commandos during the police raids at Ram Rahim’s native village Gurusar Modia in Rajasthan and reports that some are at present with Honeypreet, Sandhu said if any Haryana Police official is found involved, stern action would be taken against him.

Sandhu praised the police and the Sirsa district authorities for handling the situation well.
