Chandigarh, March 18

The per capita per day milk availability in the state has reached the level of 878 gm as compared to the national average of 329 gm.

A government spokesman said today that the Haryana is the only state in the country to make available pasteurised A-2 cow milk through Vita booths in the state.

“To tackle the problem of stray bulls as well as increasing milk production by increasing the number of female cattle, the state government has proposed to adopt sexed semen technology on a massive scale in 2018-19,” he said.

For further development, propagation and conservation of Murrah germplasm, Murrah Research and Skill Development Centre will be set up at Narnaund sub-division in Hisar district during 2018-19.

“The centre will go a long way in ensuring development of Murrah breed of buffaloes, providing skill development training to women, unemployed youth and farmers for value-added products of dairy or dairy farming for self-employment,” the spokesman said.

To provide educational opportunities in the veterinary field, Veterinary Livestock Development Diploma College will be opened at Lakhnaur Sahib, Ambala, under Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar.
