HC notice on MLA’s plea for ‘Y’ security

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday issued a notice of motion to the state and other respondents on a plea filed by Congress MLA from Palwal Karan Singh Dalal seeking ‘Y’ category of police protection.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday issued a notice of motion to the state and other respondents on a plea filed by Congress MLA from Palwal Karan Singh Dalal seeking ‘Y’ category of police protection.

Dalal has all along been contending that there is threat to his life and liberty as he is one of the witnesses against Opposition leader Abhay Singh Chautala and others in a disproportionate asset case. Dalal has also referred to intelligence reports by the Delhi Police not ruling out threat to his life.

Dalal also referred to an alleged incident where the Leader of the Opposition threatened him.

Taking up his petition, Justice Rakesh Kumar Jain of the Punjab and Haryana High Court fixed September 28 as the next date of hearing.
