The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), a government teacher training institute located in the district’s Mattarsham village, has adopted Government Girls Secondary School in Kabrel village that shot to infamy due to zero result of Class X students this year.

The DIET staff would organise camps in the school to motivate and train teachers for better performance of students.

All 24 students of the school flunked Class X exams conducted by the Haryana Board of School Education.

The school has a staff of seven teachers. Two posts – one of the head master and another of Sanksrit teacher — are vacant. The school, which re-admitted most of the 24 students, has the strength of 40 students in Class X.

In Parliament, Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala on Wednesday flagged the issue of poor results of the Kabrel school, while demanding recruitment of regular teachers in all government schools.

“The entire batch failed to clear the examination due to shortage of teachers. The Kabrel school did not have a teacher for mathematics, science and English for long,” he said in Lok Sabha.

Village sarpanch Dharam Singh said the panchayat intimated the district education authorities about the vacant posts, but they did not bother to fill them. “The teachers were appointed a couple of months before the Class X exam,” he added.

The ADC, Amarjit Singh Maan, said the DIET had adopted the government school for a year. He hoped it would raise the standards of teaching and learning.
