Days after a clean chit to the Assandh MLA Bakhshish Singh Virk in an alleged case of attack on media persons in Assandh, now, Nilokheri MLA Bhagwan Dass Kabirpanthi along with 10 others has been booked in an alleged case of abetment to suicide of a 36-year-old woman in Nissing police station.

The woman, identified as Suman, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her home in Nissing this morning and left a suicide note in which she blamed 11 persons, including the MLA and an ASI posted at Nissing police station, responsible for her death.

She had accused the Kabirpanthi of supporting the persons, with whom she had an altercation.

However, Kabirpanthi refuted the allegations and said he does not know the woman and her family.

“I do not know the woman and her family members. I can face any inquiry as I did not do anything. The inquiry would reveal the truth,” said Kabirpanthi while talking with The Tribune over phone.

On the behalf of the suicide note and the complaint filed by Suman’s husband Ramesh Chand, they have registered a case against 11 persons, including Kabirpanthi, ASI Ram Avtar, Sondutt, Pardeep, Sandeep, Bimla, Aarti, Mangal Singh, Mahabir, Shiv Charan, Ram Pal under Sections 306, 506 and 34 of the IPC, said Diwan Singh, SHO Nissing police station.

“We are inquiring the facts and investigating all the angles of the case,” he added.

In his complaint, Ramesh Chand alleged that his wife was attacked by Somdutt and Pardeep on March 2 but the ASI Ram Avtar did not take any action against them, but instead registered a case under Section 182 against his family members to harass them.

Since then, they were harassing his family members. On August 23, Somdutt, Pardeep, Sandeep, Bimla, Aarti, Mangal Singh, all resident of Nissing came to his home while his wife was alone and abused and harassed her, he alleged.

He alleged that the police used to say that they were being pressurised by the Nilokheri MLA Kabripanthi and could not help them.

He further stated that the MLA, along with other accused forced his family members to hell by harassing them.
