Mahendragarh: Students of Center for Innovation Skill and Entrepreneurship Development (CISED) at the Central University of Haryana (CUH) have bagged the first position in organic food fest category during the ‘Festival of Bharat’ held in New Delhi recently. Prof Ramesh Chander Kuhad, Vice-Chancellor, said ‘ghat ki rabadi’, ‘pyaj angakada’, ‘curry-paratha’, ‘mung-pakaudi’ and ‘sattu-pizza’ were the food items which were appreciated by Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy and other dignitaries. The food items were prepared by the students, including Ramesh, Sandeep, Hemant, Atmaram, Narender, Ritu and Rishipal. “The CUH is committed to promote healthy traditional food products,” said the VC.

Lesson in attendance

Kurukshetra: The Jind administration on Tuesday honoured 42 students of Government Senior Secondary School at city’s Defense Colony for maintaining full attendance. Jind DC Amit Khatri presented them with certificates. He said the initiative was aimed at inculcating the value of discipline and strengthening academic environment in government schools. Khatri said more students would be felicitated to instil a healthy competition among them.

Off to Japan for science workshop

Kurukshetra: Six students of Wisdom World School here left for Japan on Saturday to attend Sakura Science High School Programme scheduled from from May 27 to June 2. Local MLA Subhash Sudha and principal Sangeeta Bahl gave a warm send-off to Sukrit Garg of Class X, Naman Valecha, Aman Saini and Nishit Aggarwal of Class XI and Divya Sharma and Deep Singh of Class XII. The students will participate in various science and technology projects initiated by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology during their week-long stay in Japan. Satoshi Hata, School Director (International Affairs), said the students would spend three days in Hiroshima and visit the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, Hiroshima University and Peace Museum. 

Reaching out to women 

Ambala: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organised programmes for enhancing legal services to women inmates at the Central Jail Ambala recently. Danish Gupta, secretary, DLSA, informed that eight programmes, including awareness programme on government schemes pertaining to women and children welfare, beautician and dyeing course, workshop on bakery items, medical awareness and mental health awareness camp and yoga course were organised. He said: “Such courses will help provide employment to women inmates after their release. The campaign was appreciated by the jail inmates and the authority concerned. More such programmes will be organised in future.” 

Management skills 

Rohtak: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) here has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for conducting a certificate programme for its officers. The MoU has been signed by Prof Dheeraj Sharma, Director, IIM-Rohtak, and Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Director General, CRPF. As per the MoU, the IIM will conduct a six-month certificate programme in business management to impart managerial decision-making skills to trainee officers of the CRPF. Prof Sharma said: “The programme is designed to equip CRPF officers with better understanding about the latest management concepts, tools and models, particularly in the domain of human resources, logistics management, perception and media management, information systems, and financial management.” 

Player felicitated on return

Panipat: The residents of Manana village welcomed Ravinder Saini, a player of the national kho-kho team for winning gold medal in the international test series held in Faridabad from May 21 to 23. Saini said the Indo-Nepal international test series held at Rawal International School in Faridabad and the Indian team won the gold medal. There were three players from the state in the national team. Saini was also felicitated in a programme held at Government Senior Secondary School. Principal Saroj Bala, coach Gulshan Kumar, Ramswaroop Rathi, secretary of the district kho-kho association, principal Vikram Sehrawat, Virender Singh and villagers were present during the programme.
