Govt: Work on waste management plants on

Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain on Sunday said that waste management plants would be set up for strengthening power system and a provision had been made to generate 32 MW power everyday from 2,000 tonnes of waste.

She said that work on waste management plants in Gurugram-Faridabad and Sonepat-Panipat clusters was under progress.

She said that drinking water supply was being strengthened at a cost of Rs 487 crore in 18 cities under AMRUT Yojana. She said that work on strengthening sewage management, drainage and parks and public transportation were carried out under this scheme.

She said that Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had launched ‘Tooti Lagao, Jal Bachao’ campaign in villages falling under municipalities for water conservation, which would be completed by September 30.

She said that under the project to strengthen drinking water supply system, water connections would be given to 3.26 lakh houses in several cities. She said that sewerage connections would be given to 5.24 lakh houses.

She said that the government was conscious towards environment and 532 parks had been developed at a cost of Rs 66 crore.

She said that Khattar had announced development of parks in 25 municipalities, which would cost about Rs 78 crore. She said that it has been decided to develop parks in 50 muncipalities under Swarna Jayanti Pariyojana. Under the AMRUT Yojana, 80 parks would be developed for children, she added.
