Kurukshetra, May 26
The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) today announced to block national highways in Ambala, Hisar and Sirsa districts on August 9 in support of their long pending demands. The farmers’ body held a meeting held in Jat Dharamshala here.
Gurnam Singh Charuni, BKU leader, said a resolution to disrupt traffic across the country on August 9 was passed at a meeting held in Moradabad.
Charuni blamed the BJP for backtracking on its poll promise to implement recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission to make farming a profitable avocation. He also demanded loan waiver for farmers.
He said the agitation would be intensified if the Centre fails to act their demands.
