Sonepat, June 10

The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh handed over a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Shaleen in his office here on Monday, accusing farmers of Baghpat’s Katha village in Uttar Pradesh of encroaching on 10 acres in the district’s Manoli village. They demanded immediate removal of encroachments.

In the memorandum, Sonepat farmers alleged UP farmers had built huts on 10 acres bought by farmers of Pabsera village in 1994. Revenue records are in the name of Pabsera farmers.

On May 9, 2018, UP farmers had attacked Pabsera farmers and encroached on the land, the memorandum stated. The Sonepat administration, however, removed the encroachment and restored the land to Pabsera farmers on May 24, 2018, after scrutinising the revenue records. But the UP farmers again encroached on the land.

“The DC has assured Pabsera villagers of taking action on the basis of a decision taken by of Sonepat and Baghpat district administrations last year. The encroachment will be removed soon,” said Virender Badkhalsa, state general secretary of the sangh.
