Ex-MLA Bali Pahalwan surrenders in court

Balbir Singh, alias Bali Pahalwan, former INLD MLA from Meham, on Tuesday surrendered in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Ritu YK Bahal at the end of six-month bail granted by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in April.

Sources said Bali, along with his son, reached court after lunch to surrender. The court sent him to jail.

Bali and 20 others had been booked for their alleged involvement in indiscriminate firing at the Kalanaur grain market on May 5, 2011, leading to the death of one person, identified as Vishnu, and injuries to others. The incident had grabbed media attention at the national level.
