Panipat, December 21
The Superintendent of Police (SP) has ordered an inquiry to DSP City into the escape of two gang-rape accused from police custody from the Tehsil Camp police post after breaking a window of the room there.
In her police complaint, a woman of Tehsil Camp area on December 11 had alleged that some unidentified persons had kidnapped her 15-year-old mentally challenged daughter. The police registered a case under Section 365 (kidnapping) on the same day.
On December 13, the accused came to leave the girl near her home, but the girl started shouting. On hearing her daughter’s voice, her mother — with the help of neighbours — caught the two accused and gave information on toll free number 1091.
The Tehsil Camp police reached the site and took both men into custody. But both accused managed to escape from police custody after breaking the window of a room on the same day.
Now, the victim’s parents are going from pillar to post demanding the arrest of the accused.
ASI Sushil Kumar, spokesperson, said the accused have been identified as Rakesh of Samastipur in Bihar and his associate Pintu. Section 4 of POCSO Act has also been added to the complaint.
Following the SP’s order, DSP City Satish Gautam has started an inquiry into police negligence, he said.
