Additional District and Sessions Judge Krishan Kant, whose wife Ritu and son Dhruv, were shot at by his gunman in Gurugram Saturday afternoon, is posted there for the past nearly one-and-a-half year.

Kant (42) joined the superior judicial services only five years ago directly as Additional District and Sessions Judge and his first place of posting was Rohtak.

He hails from Hisar town and had practised in the district courts in his hometown before he made it to the superior judicial services in 2014. His father Dev Raj Bhagat is a leading taxation lawyer in Hisar.

Narinder Kaur, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Rohtak, who was Kant’s colleague there, said that the judge has a nice well-behaved family. “Our official residences were located next to each other in Rohtak and Ritu has been a good friend of mine. She is a sweet-natured woman and in fact the entire family is well mannered and well behaved. We are shocked and surprised on hearing this news. How can anyone fire at such nice people,” she said.
