Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, in his maiden speech on Tuesday, promised to bring in a Bill for ensuring 75 per cent reservation for local youth in jobs.

This was a major poll plank of the JJP during campaigning. He was replying to the Governor’s Address. “A number of people talked about the 12-page Governor’s Address, but no one touched sports,” he said.

“Haryana contributes one-third of the country’s medals. The Olympics are approaching. We have former Olympian Sandeep Singh in the House. We can take an initiative to resolve players’ problems,” he said.

He suggested digitisation of Assembly proceedings. “Some members objected when Narendra Gupta was reading from a mobile phone, which was not allowed. We need to go further on digitisation. If you are citing newspaper cuttings, a tab can be used,” he said.

On the BJP-JJP alliance, he said, “Some members have pointed out that the BJP has 260 promises and after the alliance, the government has 420 promises. A number of promises of both parties are the same. A common minimum programme is being prepared.”
