Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala will not contest next year’s parliamentary elections, said his younger brother Digvijay Chautala at Sirsa on Monday.
Dushyant himself, however, refused to comment on Digvijay’s statement, though he didn’t categorically contradict his brother’s statement either.
Digvijay further said that the Hisar MP would rather contest the Assembly polls from Dabwali, which is represented by their mother Naina Chautala.
Digvijay was responding to his uncle and Leader of Opposition Abhay Chautala’s challenge that “Dushyant will come to know about his popularity when he fights next parliamentary polls from Hisar”.
“Why will he contest the parliamentary elections under the present circumstances? He will contest the Assembly elections from Dabwali, which is our traditional constituency. People from Dabwali showered blessings on my father Ajay Chautala in 2009 and again on my mother Naina Chautala in 2014. This time, people will vote for Dushyant in large numbers,” he said.
Asked who will contest from Hisar, if Dushyant is to concentrate on Assembly polls, Digvijay said the party would take a decision on it later.
“My mother can also be a candidate from Hisar. After all, her parental village falls in the Hisar parliamentary constituency,” he added.
On his own electoral plans, Digvijay said that he wanted to concentrate on strengthening the organisation of the new party to be floated on December 9.
Digvijay said he gave this statement to the electronic media and videos went viral on social media in minutes.
Dushyant said he would not comment on his brother’s statement unless he himself saw the video.
3,200 INLD workers resign
Kaithal: About 3,200 INLD workers, including 734 office-bearers, resigned from the primary membership of the party on Monday in support of expelled INLD leader Ajay Chautala. They assembled at Aggarwal Dharamshala in Kaithal and took the decision. Among those who resigned were Makhan Singh, Balwan Kotra, Dharam Pal Chhot, Sanjay Jaglan, Randeep Kaul, Leela Ram Meoli, Kuldip Garhi, Raju Julani Khera, Multan Golan, Jagdish Dubbal and Raju Pai.
