Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala, who is locked in a tough contest with Prem Lata of the BJP in Uchana Kalan assembly constituency, on Monday alleged bogus polling in the Dumarkha village of the constituency.

Dumarkha is the native village of Prem Lata who is wife of former union minister and Rajya Sabha MP Birender Singh. Her son Brijendra Singh is the MP from Hisar Lok Sabha constituency.

Dushyant said that he had complained to a polling official at the booth in Dumarkha that a woman, on reaching the polling station, found out that her vote had already been cast.

“I asked the polling staff to fill his ballot form for casting the vote. An agent for the BJP candidate tried to throw a tumbler towards me. I complained to the DC about the poll agent, a DSP and others and demanded a re-poll on booth number 49. The DC has assured me of probe,” he said.

DC Aditya Dahiya and SP Ashwin Shenvi reached the spot and additional force was deployed in Dumarkha village. Dahiya said that they had not come across any video proof or other evidence of the incident,

“We received some complaints and have assigned a probe of every complaint. We will take a decision by evening,” he said, adding, that polling was going on without interruption in the district.

Polling has been comparatively slow in the Uchana Kalan segment as only 38.02% voters have exercised their franchise in this segment while the average voting in the state was around 45.67 % at 3.20 PM.
